New action designs and possible commercial production

   The Farquharson action, recently sold in kit form thru Action Castings, LLC has been redesigned to bring it into the 21st century.  Nearly all flat and vee springs have been replaced via commercially available coil type springs and other components.  The action has been slighly enlarged to allow the use magnum cartridges as well as the use of rimless cases.
   The basic design and functional operation has not changed.  The new design eliminates virtually all the tedious hand fitting of parts.  We expect finsihed actions to be cost competitive with the Ruger #1 (which was based on the Farquharson to begin with).

   The new bolt action system (when built with interchangeable barrels) allows for the use of any cartridge up to 2 bore in size.  The action is a true Quick Take Down system.  Only a few seconds is required to change barrel and caliber.  It has been designed with an ambidextrous bold handle, adjustable firing pin and numerous other features.  These actions may easily be built from solid bar stock using a set of plans by the home hobbyist.
